History

In November 1998 Six people met in the Village Hall at Glenore Grove to talk about the options of starting a Theatre Group in Laidley.

After sending out flyers etc, another meeting was held in the Uniting Church Hall in Laidley in May 1999 at which approx. 20 people attended. At this meeting a Committee was formed and so Laidley Performing Arts prepared for their first performance, which was HOW THE WEST WAS WON, this performance was put at Laidley Cultural Centre.

The group held their rehearsals in the Uniting Church Hall Laidley. Gillian Carpenter was our first Director
The group also did a performance in the Uniting Church Hall.

Eventually the group moved to Laidley Cultural Centre. When Gatton and Laidley amalgamated the name was changed to LOCKYER REGIONAL PERFOFMING ARTS. Some years later the group become and Incorporated entity.
